Our mission is to educate and empower the Oroko girl child and Oroko woman, many of whom have been forcibly displaced from their homes and farmlands due to the ongoing Anglophone crisis. This conflict has left countless women and girls vulnerable stripped of safety, stability, and access to basic opportunities. We aim to provide them with the tools, resources, and support needed to rebuild their lives, access education, gain economic independence, and reclaim their dignity.
Learn MoreOur goal is to build and strengthen Oroko communities by fostering unity, preserving and promoting our rich cultural heritage, and equipping members with essential life skills. Through cultural education and financial literacy programs, we aim to empower individuals and families to thrive socially, economically, and culturally—ensuring a stronger, more resilient Oroko community for generations to come.
Learn MoreWe are committed to fighting against domestic violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), and child mortality—critical issues that continue to affect the well-being and dignity of women and children in our communities. Through education, advocacy, and community-based initiatives, we aim to raise awareness, support survivors, and work with local leaders to challenge harmful cultural practices. By promoting safe environments, access to healthcare, and the protection of human rights, we strive to build a future where women and children can live free from harm and reach their full potential.
Learn More It was on September 2, 2023 that a few Oroko Women gathered during the Oroko Cultural Association Convention in Houston, Texas hashed out the idea of the creation of an only Oroko women association in the United States. And before today’s inaugural meeting we’ve had series of meetings to look for possible pathway for the launching of the association. Here we are!!! I want to thank all of you who have made this creation possible.
The funds raised annually will be allocated...
The mission of the Oroko Women's Association (OWA) is to empower women, children, and youth through education, cultural enrichment, and community service.
Learn MoreThe funds raised support OWA's wide range of charitable initiatives, including—but not limited to—scholarships for underprivileged female students in Cameroon and aspiring students in Georgia, cultural enrichment programs, healthcare initiatives, support for orphanages.
Learn MoreOur mission is to improve the health and quality of life of the Oroko girl child and woman by bridging the gap between the underprivileged and the privileged, fostering sustainable development. We aim to create a supportive, inspiring environment where women feel valued and empowered. Through workshops, mentorship, volunteer services, and community projects, we promote personal growth and encourage every woman to realize and maximize her full potential.
As we move forward from this inaugural gathering, the real work begins. As the inaugural President of OWA, I will be reaching out to Oroko women across the U.S. to join OWA so we can share our gifts, support one another, and build a thriving, empowering community.
Years of Experience
The Oroko Women’s Association – USA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting Oroko women across the United States. Its mission is to uplift the community, preserve and promote Oroko cultural heritage, and empower women through education, leadership development, and support programs.
The association was born out of a collective desire among Oroko women to create a platform for connection, empowerment, and cultural preservation. Recognizing the strength in unity, these women envisioned a movement that would nurture leadership, advocate for progress, and celebrate identity.
Membership is open to all women of Oroko descent living in the United States and around the world, as well as allies who share and support the mission and vision of the association. We welcome anyone committed to community development, cultural preservation, and the empowerment of women.
The association offers a range of programs and initiatives, including:
